MLB Pitcher Report | August 4

Meatball Monday
With so many games on the docket, let’s zone in on a couple of guys we know love to toss meatballs. Let’s kick it off with Cade Povich for the Orioles. He’s got a 5.78 ERA this year, allowing opposing hitters to hit .287 and giving up 1.4 HR/9. He’s struggled against right handed bats this year, allowing righties to hit .292 with eight home runs.
In Atlanta it’ll be newly acquired Erick Fedde making his first home start for the Braves. He went 4.2 innings in his debut with the team, giving up five hits, four earned runs and one home run. Fedde’s got a 5.33 ERA this year and has given up 15 home runs this year.
Let’s move to Anaheim, California. Yusei Kikuchi will take the mound for the Angels and he’s been struggling. Kikuchi finished the month with a 4.88 ERA, giving up 40 hits and 18 total runs; all in just six starts. He’s given up six or more hits in five of the six starts and he’s coming off a game in which he gave up 10 hits. Look for more of that tonight in Southern California.
Sunshine Report – August 4 Weather Conditions
We’re in the thick of the summer and the winds are blowing, the sun is shining; now if we could just get these baseballs flying. Staying in Southern California, we’ve got 7.2 mph winds blowing directly toward the outfield at Angel Stadium, temperatures in the high 70s and two pitchers that give up a ton of contact.
At Truist Park in Atlanta, we’ve got 8.3 mph winds blowing out and towards right field, with temperatures in the mid 60s. In Philadelphia we’re getting 5.4 mph winds blowing out and toward left field, temperatures in the mid 80s and a red hot Phillies lineup. Staying on the east coast, we’ve got 11.2 mph winds blowing out toward left field at Citi Field.
Lastly, let’s cap it off back on the west coast. The Dodgers are back at Dodger Stadium and hosting St. Louis Cardinals. Wind blowing at 6.9 mph directly toward centre field and Sonny Gray on the mound for the Cards.
Our Best MLB Pitcher vs. Batter Bets on the Diamond for Monday, August 4
Kyle Schwarber o1.5 Total Bases (-115 via BetOnline)

Just can’t get enough of Kyle Schwarber. The dude is putting on a clinic a 32 years old, batting .254 on the year with 38 home runs, 77 runs scored and 88 RBI. Schwarber’s 8th in on base percentage this year (min. 80 GP) and sits tied for most home runs in the National League.
He’s played in all 111 games for the Phillies this year, leading the team in both runs scored and RBI. Schwarber’s also hitting .272 against left handed pitchers and with 15 of his 38 home runs coming against lefties (.639 SLG).
Half of Schwarber’s home runs have come here at Citizens Bank Park and tonight with Cade Povich on the mound; I love Schwarber’s chance’s to go deep.
Bonus: Kyle Schwarber Home Run (+200)
Juan Soto o1.5 Total Bases (+115 via BetOnline)

The only way to describe my relationship with Juan Soto is ‘love/hate’. I think he’s a phenomenal baseball player, one of the most feared batters in the game; but I’m just never on the right side of him. Tonight, we’re going right back to the southpaw and hoping for better results.
Soto’s been struggling since the All-Star break, batting just .154 with two home runs in 14-games. On the year, Soto’s hitting .247 with 25 home runs, 63 RBI and 75 runs scored. He leads the Mets in home runs, runs scored and sits 3rd in RBI.
Tonight he’ll face off against Slade Cecconi for the Guardians. The young righty’s got a 3.77 ERA this year, giving up 1.5 HR/9 and allowing left handed bats to hit .260. Seven of the 13 home runs he’s allowed this year have been to southpaws and winds blowing at 11 mph directly toward the outfield. Look for Soto to get one over the fence tonight.
Bonus: Juan Soto Home Run (+310)
