MLB Pitcher Report | July 7

Pitcher Report - July 7

Meatball Monday

Mondays are better with meatballs. After a night in which we saw almost every single pitcher go crazy, it only feels appropriate we see the pendulum swing back the other way. Let’s kick it off with Austin Gomber and the Rockies taking on the Red Sox at Fenway.

Gomber’s made just four starts this year, recording a 5.49 ERA and giving up four home runs. Three of his four starts have been at Coors Field and we all know how tough that can be.

Next we’ve got the young righty, Sean Burke. Burke’s back at home and set to face off with one of the hottest teams in baseball. The Blue Jays have won 10 of their last 11 games and rank first in runs scored over that same time frame.

Both Janson Junk and Brady Singer have been good this year, but today with the conditions at Great America Ballpark, that ball might be flying.

MLB Flight Report – July 7 Weather Conditions

Speaking of flight, let’s talk about the weather conditions. Starting in Cincinnati, we’ve got slight 2.3 mph winds blowing directly outward with temperatures in the low 80s and some humidity. It’s one of the most hitter-friendly parks in MLB and today’s conditions should only amplify that.

Let’s take a trip to Fenway Park. Strong winds blowing at 12.1 mph directly toward the Big Green Monster. Temperatures in the low 80s and humid temperatures should help carry the ball just a little more tonight in Boston.

The smallest outfield in MLB is at Rate Field in Chicago. We’ve got 8.5 mph winds in the Windy City, with temperatures in the low 70s, and high humidity. Winds blowing out and toward right field should help with lefties that can elevate the ball and righties with opposite-field tendencies.

Let’s finish off in Anaheim, where the Angels will host the Rangers. Bit of a pitcher’s duel at Angel Stadium tonight, with both pitchers rocking with sub-three ERAs. Despite the two studs on the mound, we’ve got to talk about the weather. Winds blowing directly out of the stadium at 8.3 mph, temperature in the mid 70s, and two loaded lineups.

Angels Stadium consists of deep corners and a very close center-field fence. With winds blowing directly toward center field, this feels like a game we can’t ignore.

Our Best MLB Pitcher vs. Batter Bets on the Diamond for Monday, July 7

George Springer o1.5 Total Bases (+105 via BetOnline)

George Springer

George Springer is on a different planet right now. He’s hitting .462 this month with five home runs, 13 RBI, and nine runs scored. He’s crushing right-handed pitching this year, batting .300 with 11 of his 16 home runs coming against righties.

Burke’s a second-year pitcher that’s been having a good year, but has struggled with the long ball over his last five starts. Burke’s given up four home runs in those five games and with today’s conditions, it feels like he’s in store to give up at least one more.

Springer’s also cleared this line in five of his last six games, coming off a game in which he was hitless against the Angles.

Bonus: George Springer Home Run (+350)

Kyle Schwarber o1.5 Total Bases (+140 via BetOnline)

Kyle Schwarber

Today in San Francisco, the usual pitcher-friendly Oracle Park has been flipped. Strong winds blowing directly toward the outfield should make for some interesting at-bats and because of it, we’re looking at Kyle Schwarber.

Schwarber’s done a great job of making contact this month, batting .263 in just five games. His two home runs feel like a lot in five games, but when a guy like Schwarber is making that much contact, you’d think the ball is flying a little farther.

Tonight he faces off with Landen Roupp, a young righty who’s been good for the Giants this year. He’s given up four home runs to lefties this year and it’ll be his first matchup with Schwarber.

Thirteen of Schwarber’s 27 home runs have come on the road, he’s hitting .252 away from Philly this year, and tonight with the wind blowing out—I love Schwarbomb today.

Bonus: Kyle Schwarber Home Run (+425)
