Tigers vs. Yankees: The New York Yankees took a beating last night, falling 12-2 after the Tigers poured on nine runs in the seventh inning. It was an embarrassing showing for a team that still has eyes on the AL East crown. With the playoffs closing in, the Yankees need to show fight and consistency, especially against struggling arms like tonight’s starter, Jack Flaherty. Offensively, New York has the tools to respond, ranking near the top of multiple key metrics. Tonight presents an opportunity not only to bounce back but to cash in on value plays that favor the Bronx Bombers.

Ah, my beloved New York Yankees, laying down and getting their rear ends handed to them last night as the Tigers crushed them 12-2. A nine-run seventh inning blew the game wide open and delivered the double-digit victory for Detroit. Tonight, the Bronx Bombers must flip the script. They are still in striking distance of the AL East crown, and they need to find their spark before the playoffs arrive. That is why we are locked in on their first five team total over 2.5 at +114.
The Yankees enter today with the second-highest rated offense, per Batters-Box. Six of their hitters are graded elite and two more are rated great. This lineup has been humming over the last two weeks, ranking top ten in most key offensive categories. Most notably, they sit first in walk rate and second in ISO.
Speaking as a fan, I will call the season over if they do not respond tonight. But now, back to the bet.
The Tigers send out right-hander Jack Flaherty, who holds the fourth-worst pitcher rating on the day. He is allowing the third-most hard contact among today’s starters, and on the road this season he has been rough-posting a 5.64 ERA while giving up 5.1 hits and 3.45 runs per start.
Six of those eight dangerous Yankees hitters will step in from the left side, and Flaherty has been torched by lefties of late. The last 30 left-handed batters he has faced have posted a .506 xBA, .640 xSLG, and .392 xwOBA. His overall marks-6.35 ERA, 6.04 xERA, and 4.10 xFIP-tell the story of a pitcher on the ropes.
Bonus Plays
If those numbers do not fire you up, this will. Yankees captain and AL MVP frontrunner Aaron Judge has his total bases prop priced at +110 on some books. That is an auto-play. He is Aaron Judge, the second-highest rated hitter on Batters-Box today. In 126 elite home ratings, he has cleared 1.5 bases 51.59% of the time. In my opinion, he should never be listed above even money. Yes, he homered last night in a monumental moment, and while I usually avoid chasing a player who just went deep, this price cannot be ignored.
For my home run chasers, here is one more note. In those 126 elite home ratings, Judge has homered 30% of the time. His home run prop is sitting around +260 on some books, and anything above two-to-one on Judge’s long ball is, personally, a tremendous price.
The Yankees were humbled last night, but tonight is about response. With an elite offense facing one of the weakest pitchers on the slate, New York has the edge in the first five innings and beyond. Six left-handed bats with favorable ratings against Flaherty set the stage for a strong outing, and Aaron Judge’s props stand out as must-bet opportunities. Whether targeting total bases or chasing the home run price, the numbers speak for themselves. This is a pivotal moment for the Bronx Bombers to prove they can rise when it matters most, and tonight feels like the spot.
