St. Louis Cardinals vs. Kansas City Royals: MLB Best Bets (5/16)

Cole Ragans and the Royals host the Cardinals tonight

It’s Friday, the weekend is here, and we’ve actually got an interleague rivalry matchup tonight to discuss. The I-70 series is upon us this weekend as the Kansas City Royals host the St. Louis Cardinals, in a battle for the Show Me State. Now the Royals host this weekend, but they have to go to St. Louis in early June in order to let the Cardinals defend Busch Stadium.

St. Louis is just one game behind the Chicago Cubs for first place in the NL Central. They are incredibly hot right now, winning 10 of their last 11, and 12 of their last 15 overall. While the team hits .262 overall and .267 in May, those numbers decrease significantly on the road and against LHP, whom they face tonight.

As for the Royals, if you’ve been keeping up with my articles, you know how good this team is, not only at home, but also on Friday Nights (for whatever reason). The point is, we will be backing the Royals again until this system really falls off, and despite not having the same success as last year, I think we keep it going for a few more contests.

I won’t waste any time. Tonight we have a system play that we are sticking to. Let’s get right into all three of our bets. Admittedly, I jumped the gun booking these last night and got a bad number compared to what you all can get today!

Don’t you love a fluid market that shifts drastically overnight?! (Read as satire)

Best Bets: Royals ML (-140) BetOnline

As you know, we are on the Royals ML, but also on their TT over 4.5 and run line at plus money. We are continuing to ride this full system out on Friday’s until I am given reason to do so otherwise.

So far this season, the Royals have won all three Friday Night home games, they’ve covered the run line in 2/3, and have scored 5+ runs just once. However, dating back to June 2023, the trends add up in our favor.

Since June 30, 2023, in the past 22 games at home, the Royals have won 18/22 (81.8%), they’ve scored 5+ runs in 16/22 (72.7%), and they’ve won by two runs in 15/22 (68.1%). This isn’t a secret at all. The Royals’ team batting average jumps 10 points overall when they play at home, and during the month of May, they are hitting .269, putting them 8th in MLB.

As for Ragans, good things usually happen when he is on the mound, and despite facing a Cardinals team with some hot bats, St. Louis has their batting average drop 22 points on the road and 15 points against left handed pitchers. Last point, the Cardinals are 9-14 on the road while the Royals are 16-7 at home this season, and 3-0 on Friday Night.

I’m not trying to reinvent the wheel, but for whatever reason, the Royals come alive when they play at home to kick off the weekend. I’ll continue betting on them, considering the ML is hitting at over 80% during the past 22 games. Give me the ML, the RL, and the TT and let’s hope we finally get all three this week.
