Baltimore leads Seattle 4-1 on the overall regular season series after sweeping them on the road in early June. On Tuesday, the Mariners skunked the Orioles in their first meeting, beating them just 1-0. However last night Baltimore got the last laugh.
It was scoreless through six innings, but the Orioles led 3-1 after seven. Seattle tied things up in the top of the final inning, only to give up the winning run on a Jackson Holliday walk-off double.
The Mariners now sit one game behind the Houston Astros in the AL West following their loss, but still have time to overtake them in the division. As for the Orioles, they are simply playing for pride, sitting 15.5 games out of first place in the AL East, and 9.5 games out of a wild card spot.

We’ve got a very high total in this game, and I’ll buy into it. I’m not going to back the over, but I will be backing enough runs for the favorites to cover the spread on the road. They were swept at home by this team, and now have a chance to at least win this series, and I trust them to do so with the way they’ve been playing.

Now, those numbers have been down a bit since the All Star Break, but they are still getting wins, going 16-9 since the break and 9-2 during the month of August.
Logan Evans has won three of his last four starts for Seattle, and the Mariners have won four of the last five with him on the mound. Tomoyuki Sugano hasn’t had a loss since July 2, and he’s won two out of his last three. He pitched against the Mariners in June, throwing seven innings, giving up just a solo home run and four other hits as Baltimore won 5-1. That’s a tough performance to repeat.
The Orioles are hitting just .182 during the month of August, the far worst in the MLB during that stretch. They are 4-8 over their last 12 games, striking out over 27% of the time, and have the worst wOBA in the league by 30 points.
Things are grim for the Orioles, the Mariners have much more to play for, and I think they have the tools to cover the spread tonight.
