Pfaadt has been blown up in his last few starts. He’s allowed five and eight earned runs in his last two, and hasn’t allowed less than three in six straight outings and seven of his last eight. The guy does not have it this year, and his 5.51 ERA speaks for itself. Three of his five pitches are below league average, including his fastball which gets thrown over 32% of the time. Plus the Mariners hit better on the road, watching their average jump from .240 to .261.
As for Evans, he’s given up eight earned runs in his last four starts. Three of his four most popular pitches are below league average, and we know how lethal the Diamondbacks’ offense can be. Arizona has two elite rated hitters, two others with a great matchup, and one more with an above average rating. I see both offenses combining for plenty of runs to clear this high total in the desert tonight.
