The Orioles now sit 1 gamc back of the Yankees for top spot in the American League and top spot in the AL East.
The race in the AL East looks like it might come down to the absolute wire. The Orioles held top spot in the division till just 2 days ago when the Yankees snatched it back.
Baltimore’s gone 18-19 since July 1st this year and just split a short 2-game series with the Nationals. They were catching fire early this summer, going 34-21 from May to the end of June.
Now the Yankees have a 1 game lead on the Orioles for the division lead as the Red Sox fight for a Wild Card spot.
Boston sits 2 games back of the Royals for the last Wild Card sport with 7 games separating them and the Orioles. The Sox have lost 5 of the 6 matchups so far this year with the Orioles and will need that to change if they want to make the post-season.

Rafael, not only is that the name of one of my favorite Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, but it’s also the name of my favorite Red Sox hitter.

Anthony Santander is on a different planet this season. At 29 years old he’s recorded 80 RBI, 72 runs scored and he’s hit a career high 36 home runs; and he’s done it all with 41 games left to go.

Anthony’s got just 1 home run against the Red Sox this season and he feels like he’s due for more. He’s batting 0.188 this month but he’s also recorded a 0.542 SLG. Santander’s got 9 hits this month, 7 have been for 2 or more bases, and 5 have hit out the park.
