Being in separate leagues, these teams do not face each other very often. However, they did play a three game series last year at Wrigley.
The Cubs took the first two games but the Red Sox were able to win the last one of the series.
Prior to that, these squads had not seen each other since the 2017 season, but thanks to new MLB rules, they will now play each other every single season!

Can the Red Sox Stay Hot?
The Red Sox have been one of the most interesting stories of the MLB this year. Despite being 5 games above .500, they are currently last in the AL East.
Boston is 48-43, which would put them in 1st place of the division if they played in the AL Central. They would also be 3rd in the AL West, which goes to show you how much of a gauntlet the AL East has been this year.
On the Cubs side, they are 42-47 and are 3rd in the NL Central. The Cubs are 7 games out of 1st place, and are only 21-22 at Wrigley Field this year.
With Brayan Bello on the mound and the way he’s been pitching, backing the Red Sox seems like the way to go in this one.
With this short of a line, I’d rather take the plus money on the runline and bet on them to win this game by two.

Alex Verdugo over 1.5 Total Bases (+112) BetOnline
While Verdugo doesn’t necessarily clear this line a huge majority of the time (only 45% of games), he absolutely rakes against right-handed pitchers.
Verdugo, a lefty, bats nearly .300 against RHP. He has 20 of his 27 doubles this year against righties, and all 7 home runs.
Not to mention he bats .333 against Hendricks in his career.
Before the All Star Break, Verdugo had back to back games with multiple bases totaling 7 in just two games.
Verdugo has hit this line in 3 of his last 6 road games, and he had 4 bases in all 3 of those instances.
Tonight against Hendricks, I think we see some offense. Batting 2nd in the lineup, I like Verdugo to get at least 5 at bats and hopefully 2 bases tonight.
