Rangers vs. Angels: Nathan Eovaldi has quietly been one of the most dominant arms in baseball, and tonight he draws a dream matchup. The veteran right-hander takes the mound against a free-swinging Angels lineup that has been striking out at an alarming rate. With elite road numbers and a top-tier pitcher rating, this sets up perfectly for a strikeout-heavy outing.

I want to be all over anything and everything Nathan Eovaldi tonight, who takes the mound for the Texas Rangers. He holds the sixth-highest pitcher rating on Batters-Box’s season-long ratings, but in their current form ratings, he sits at number one. On top of that, Eovaldi owns the third-best average hitter matchup strikeout percentage.
He has been unstoppable on the road this year. The 35-year-old holds a 1.44 ERA and a 1.81 opponent batting average in away games, averaging six strikeouts per road start.
Tonight, he gets the most swing-happy team in baseball—the Los Angeles Angels. They rank dead last in strikeout percentage at home this season. Over the past 14 days, they are third worst in strikeout rate, fourth worst in the last seven days, second worst against right-handed pitchers, and dead last overall.
This Angels lineup has zero elite-rated hitters, seven bats above the league average in strikeout rate, and seven above the league average in ground ball rate. Their average hitter rating is just .285—graded as “Above Average” on Batters-Box, which is still not good.
With how bad the Angels’ bats have been, I have to be on this prop. I laddered it up to ten strikeouts for fun, but shop around and find the best number. The alternate line at 6.5 strikeouts for plus money is still a go for me.
