Tonight we are backing an offense that has finally gotten its wheels back on the tracks, and this train is on fire. The Texas Rangers have been one of the best offenses over the past few weeks, and tonight they are set up once again for more offensive success.
Over the last month, the Rangers have maintained a top-10 offense, ranking sixth-best over the last seven and 14 days. On the road, they have been playing their best baseball, scoring an average of 2.76 runs in the first five innings. Today, they have the highest-rated offense on Batters-Box, featuring six elite-rated hitters, zero poorly rated, five above the league strikeout rate, and three above the ground ball rate.
McCullers Jr.’s Difficulties at Home
Enter Lance McCullers Jr., who owns the worst pitcher rating of the day among starters. He has a poorly-rated matchup wOBA, ISO, and hard contact numbers, giving up over 47% hard contact to opposing hitters. At home is where he has struggled most, with an 11.37 ERA and a .293 opponent batting average. McCullers has been atrocious at Minute Maid Park. You might think he has faced good teams, but even the Cubs, White Sox, Athletics, Mariners, and Reds have all scored at least two runs against him.
The cherry on top is that 85% of the Astros’ right-handed arsenal is below league average. To add more fuel to the fire, five of the six elite-rated hitters in the Rangers lineup are right-handed bats. Right-handed hitters are batting .303 with a .592 slugging percentage and a 1.016 OPS against McCullers this season.
For the number, this is a 100% go. The price? How can you hate it when the bet is over 1.5 runs? Give me this Rangers offense to feast this evening in Houston!
