Phillies vs Braves Prediction

Tonight is the final game of a four game series between these two teams.

The Braves were able to take the first game on Thursday 8-5, but then the Phillies turned it around on the road, taking the next two games 6-4, and 2-1 last night.

Now tonight they face off on Sunday Night Baseball on national television.

The Braves are throwing our stud Spencer Strider, while the Phillies are starting Dylan Convey, a bulk reliever making his second start.

My gut tells me the Braves get it done tonight in front of their home crowd on national television. Atlanta will look to even the season series against this division rival.

Sunday Night Baseball Best Bets

Phillies/Braves Under 9 (-110) Bovada

I think this game is a bit of a pitching duel. I expect Spencer Strider to come out as he has all season and mow down some batters. As far as the other side of things, the Braves bats took the night off last night, so they better find them today.

Even with a new starter on the mound for Philly, I think the Braves bats have hit a bit of a slump and will need to rely on their pitching and defense to carry them to this victory.

I like the Braves to win a boring one tonight on Sunday Night Baseball.

Spencer Strider over 8.5 Strikeouts (-140) BetOnline

Now this is a high number and it’s heavily juiced, but that never turns us away from the right spot.

Strider has cleared this line in 8/10 starts this year, posting 8 and 7 Ks in the two games he did not cover.

He also has cleared this in all 5 starts at home. His last three home starts have all ended with double digit Ks.

The Phillies don’t strikeout too much as a team, but individually, they have struggled against Strider. Strider already posts a league leading 1.54 Ks/inning, but his historical matchups against Phillies batters speak volumes to his skills.

Here’s how some of the big name Phillies bats have done against Strider.

  • Kyle Schwarber: 11 PA, 6 Ks
  • Alec Bohm: 9 PA, 3 Ks
  • J.T. Realmuto: 7 PA, 3 Ks
  • Nick Castellanos: 6 PA, 1 K
  • Bryce Harper: 4 PA, 1 K
  • Treat Turner 3 PA, 2 Ks

You guys get it. Strider should strikeout plenty of batters tonight.
