Orioles vs. Red Sox: The Red Sox dropped game one to the Orioles, but tonight sets up as a strong bounce-back opportunity at Fenway. Boston faces Tomoyuki Sugano, a 35-year-old rookie who has been brutal on the road and even worse against left-handed bats.
That opens the door for young star Roman Anthony, who is coming off a two-hit performance last night. With momentum at the plate and a favorable matchup, Anthony has the perfect chance to stay hot this evening.

After a tough 6-3 loss to the Orioles in game one of this two-game series, the Red Sox look to bounce back in a big way. They get a favorable opportunity against a struggling Orioles arm who has been getting lit up all season on the road. There is a player prop that caught my attention, and I am all over it this evening.
Tonight, we are backing Red Sox young star Roman Anthony, who has experienced some ups and downs over the past few weeks. After delivering a two-hit performance last night, he should be regaining his rhythm at the plate. Prior to that effort, Anthony went hitless in three of his last five games.
Anthony enters today with an elite rating on Batters-Box, his 11th such rating of the season. Despite the small sample, the trends have been strong. He has recorded a hit in nine of ten elite-rated games, two hits in four of those ten, and cleared this prop in eight of them.
Sugano vs. Anthony
This evening he faces Orioles 35-year-old rookie, Tomoyuki Sugano. The right-hander owns a poor overall rating today, along with poor marks in matchup ISO, hard contact, and strikeout percentage. He is allowing 37% hard contact to opposing hitters.
Sugano has been dreadful on the road, carrying a 7.59 ERA, 8.87 xERA, and 4.86 xFIP over his last five road starts. During that stretch, hitters own a .349 xBA, .667 xSLG, and .458 xwOBA against him.
Left-handed bats in particular have crushed him. The last 90 lefties he has faced hold a .448 xBA, .769 xSLG, and .436 xwOBA, while producing 46% hard contact. To make matters worse, 43% of his arsenal grades below league average.
This is a prime spot for Anthony to build on the momentum from last night. He draws a pitcher who has struggled both on the road and against left-handed bats. The plus-money price makes this even more appealing, as I had no interest in laying juice for this prop. Let’s hope Anthony can deliver early.
