The Dodgers are the #1 team in baseball right now.
Two lineups stocked full of big bats. Two rotations full of great arms. The Orioles and the Dodgers are setting the standard this season and it’s clear both teams have hopes of a World Series this year. The Orioles are just two games back of the Yankees for top spot in the American League and the Dodgers sit atop the National League.
Tonight we’re getting two of these team’s best arms, in theory.
Walker Buehler will take the mound for the Dodgers, he’s been 1 of the Dodgers best arms throughout his career, but this season it’s been bad. Buehler started the season on the IL and just returned to the rotation in May before missing all of July.
He’s posted a 6.09 ERA this season across 10 starts and just 44.1 innings of work. Buehler’s given up 11 home runs and he’s been letting opposing lefty’s almost tee off, giving up a 0.372 batting average and 0.638 SLG.
Opposite Buehler, the Orioles will hand the ball to their ace, Corbin Burnes. Burnes has posted a 12-6 record this season across 26 starts and a 3.28 ERA. He’s given up just 18 home runs this year in almost 160 innings of work. Arguably, he’s been the Orioles best pitcher this season.
Tonight’s Game 2 of a 3-game series between these two teams, and it very well could be a potential World Series preview.

Ohtani’s hit 22 of his 41 home runs at Dodger Stadium and tonight he’s getting 1 of the toughest matchups in the league, Corbin Burnes. Burnes is giving up just 7.92 hits per 9 innings and just 1.o5 home runs per 9.
Shohei’s recorded just a single hit against Burnes in his career, going 1/3 for a single. Burnes hasn’t played the Dodgers since 2023 and he hasn’t played well at Dodger Stadium. He’s got a career 7.27 ERA when in Los Angeles, and he’s given up 5 home runs across 5 starts.
