Sunday Night Baseball happens again tonight on ESPN to wrap up MLB’s rivalry weekend. We’ve got the Subway Series to end the week at Yankee Stadium as the New York Mets take on the New York Yankees in Game 3. This is the first meeting between both squads this year, and we only see them meet once more in early July at Citi Field.
The Yankees were able to win on Friday, beating their visitors 6-2, but the Mets got their revenge the next day. It was a low scoring affair, but three runs was all the Mets needed in order to take down their hosts, 3-2, to even things up. Now they face off once again to close out this series on national television, giving someone bragging rights for the next two months before they meet again.
Will the Yankees bounce back and win this series tonight? Or will the Mets string together a second straight win against their big brother?

Two lefties take the mound for either team tonight, and looking at the splits, this should help both teams at the plate. The Yankees hit .262 as a team with that dropping to .251 over the month of May. However, against LHP their batting average leaps to .277. The same goes for the visitors, who hit .250 overall, and .262 against lefties. Plus, the Mets’ average is also up to .259 during the month of May. Point being, in a hitter’s park, on national TV, I think we might be in for some fireworks.

Mets vs Yankees Prediction: Yankees Win, Over 9

One of these days, this is going to hit. I have been waiting for the juiced balls to come out on Sunday Night all season long, as the under 9 is 6-1 so far this year. However, it’s the Yankees, it’s the Mets, and we’re on ESPN. Just put on the tinfoil hat and root for runs with me tonight.
Both games have gone under in this series so far and throughout Sunday Night Baseball, but these pitcher’s are due for a blow up game. David Peterson has allowed multiple earned runs in 6/8 starts this year, and has two road losses as well. The Yankees haven’t seen him much, but I am betting on the hitter’s having the advantage tonight. As for the hosts, Max Fried has been insane. The guy is 6-0 on the bump, leads the league in ERA, and is also Top 10 in WHIP.
However, he’s given up nine hits in his last two starts (12 IP), but that’s translated to just one earned run in each outing. While I don’t necessarily see the Mets putting up multiple runs against the Yankee’s starter, they shouldn’t need to contribute very many in this game. I trust both New York teams to come out red hot at the plate, giving the fans a show in this series finale.
