Postseason Props: The postseason always brings out the best and worst in baseball’s biggest names. Legends are born in October, and others see their reputations questioned when the lights get brighter. That is what makes betting on playoff props so fascinating. You are no longer just playing the long grind of 162 games. You are betting on form, momentum, and who can handle the pressure of a must-win stage. Sportsbooks know this and are rolling out hitter specials all month long, giving us a chance to ride or fade some of the game’s biggest stars. When it comes to October baseball, narrative and numbers often collide, and finding that edge is everything. One prop in particular jumped out at me, not because of history, but because of what is happening right now. It involves one of the biggest names in the game, and I think the market is misreading him completely.

I am never the biggest fan of betting on my favorite teams or players, but when the confidence is there, I believe you have to ride with it. The sportsbooks are dropping hitter specials all October long, giving us props to sweat out in every statistical category. For me, one stood out: a batting average prop that many will see as an easy under because of history, but I see the value on the over. That bet is Aaron Judge to bat over .278 this postseason.
I am fully aware of the narrative surrounding Judge’s postseason struggles. His career postseason batting average sits at .205, and it is fair to say he has worn down after carrying his team into October. But he has had hot runs before. In 2018, he batted over .420 across five games. In 2019, he hit .265 in nine games. Not elite, but still proof that he can string together quality at-bats when he is locked in.
Can We Trust Judge?
What matters most is what Judge is doing right now. Over the past seven days, he is batting .450. Over the last 14, he is at .400. Stretch that out to the last 30 days, and he is still at .378. That is not just a hot week, that is sustained dominance. This version of Judge is seeing the ball better than anyone, and that is why I am siding with the over.
In Game one, Judge will take on Red Sox ace, Garrett Crochet. Yes, Crochet has had success against him, but Judge is always one swing away from flipping the script against a lefty. More importantly, he is not going to face only Crochet. At home against the Boston left hander this year, righties have limited hitters to a .230 average, but Judge has been a nightmare for left-handers all season. At home, he has been even better, posting a .362 average, .507 OBP, and 1.285 OPS against southpaws.
I would much rather back the guy who is locked in, barreling everything he sees. This is the moment for Judge to flip the postseason narrative and prove the doubters wrong. You are getting a hitter at the absolute peak of his form, locked in against both left and right handed arms, with the chance to lead his team on a deep October run. The numbers may tell you to fade him, but his bat tells you otherwise. I am riding with Judge to smash through that .278 line.
