Entering Monday, the San Francisco Giants new power hitter, Rafael Devers, comes into this game with an Elite rating on Batters-Box. In 93 road games with that designation, Devers records a hit 67% of the time, two hits 31%, and goes over this prop 45% of the time.

Today, the Giants slugger faces Diamondbacks right-hander Ryne Nelson, who owns the second worst pitcher rating on the day. He also carries poor matchup metrics in ISO and strikeout percentage. The 27-year-old throws fastballs 61% of the time, and Devers is the best hitter on the Giants against that pitch. He owns a +8 run value, .283 average, .944 OPS, and a 175 wRC+.

Nelson’s other primary pitch is his cutter, and Devers leads the Giants against that pitch as well. He holds a +4 run value, sub-.300 average against, but a .964 OPS and 183 wRC+. The rest of Nelson’s arsenal is below league average, and Devers has handled all of it effectively this season.

Devers has been solid against right-handers on the road, posting a .716 OPS and 101 wRC+. That alone makes this prop hard to ignore. When a pitcher leans heavily on fastballs, elite hitters like Devers usually find success—and he has done it his entire career. After back to back games without a hit, look for Devers to bounce back in Arizona.
