Pirates vs Dodgers Preview
This is actually the 2nd series featuring these teams this season, and thanks to the Dodger’s win last night, we are completely tied up.
The Pirates were able to take 2 out of 3 games in Pittsburgh in late April against the Dodgers. They did so in dominant fashion as well, winning 8-1 and 6-2, and only losing 8-7.
Now for today’s game, we have two lesser known pitchers on the mound, Luis Ortiz and Emmet Sheehan.
Sheehan has only totaled 17 innings for the Dodgers this year, although he is 2-0 with a 2.65 ERA.
Oritz, for the Pirates, has pitched 50 innings this year, but hasn’t been around all season. He didn’t join the big leagues until May of this year, and he hasn’t done anything noteworthy. The Pirates are 3rd in the NL Central due to their bats and relatively weak division.
Will the Pirates get the win on the road tonight? Or will the Dodgers show the little guy how the West Coast plays ball?

Pirates vs Dodgers Prediction & Best Bets
I’ve got no choice but to back the Dodgers on the runline today.
The Dodgers are 4th in Runs, OBP, and Slugging Percentage. Plus Emmet Sheehan has looked very good in the big leagues.
He’s gone at least 5 innings in every start, and only has 5 earned runs all year. Last outing, he did not have a single walk and struckout 5 on his way to an LA victory.
I think we see some runs today from the Dodgers and I think it’s going to be one sided and ugly.
Last start, Luis Ortiz gave up 2 homeruns, 3 walks, and 4 earned runs. He did not strikeout a batter.
Give me the Dodgers -1.5 at (-114).
LA is 2nd in the NL West and are 25-15 at home this year, which is 3rd in the MLB. The Pirates are 17-24 on the road ranking them in the bottom 5 of the league.
