After last night’s big win over the Rockies in game one of a four-game series, the Snakes took down the Pebbles 8-2, with most of the scoring coming early as six runs crossed the plate before the fifth inning. They are back for more this evening, hungry to build on that performance. Can they replicate last night’s success at the plate? I believe they can.
Yesterday was a blast cashing this prop early. We are running it back once again. Until this Arizona team receives more respect, we will continue to ride. People believe that just because they sold at the deadline, they are unable to put up runs. The Diamondbacks lead the league in first five runs.
The slithery snakes enter today with the highest rated offense on both of Batters-Box’s team ratings. In the current season ratings, their lineup features seven elite hitters, three above the ground ball rate, and none with a poor rating or above the league strikeout rate.
Over the last four weeks on the road, the snakes hold the fifth best wRC+ and hard hit percentage. They also rank sixth in both wOBA and OPS. This team is playing extremely well for having sold off a few key pieces at the deadline.
Diamondbacks vs. Gordon
This evening in Denver, they face Rockies right-hander Tanner Gordon, who carries some of the worst numbers across the board. Today he has the second worst pitcher rating. He owns poor marks in matchup wOBA, ISO, hard contact, strikeout percentage, and ground ball percentage. This season, he is allowing 40% hard contact to opposing hitters.
In his last five starts, he owns a 10.71 ERA, 6.84 xERA, and 4.86 xFIP. During that span, opposing hitters have posted a .351 xBA, .596 xSLG, and .413 xwOBA. It only gets worse. In his last three home starts, Gordon’s ERA is 5.52 and his xERA matches that number. Overall this season, he is allowing nearly eight hits, 2.5 extra-base hits, and five runs per start.
This has the makings of another explosive offensive evening for the Diamondbacks. Some may argue, “Well, the Diamondbacks were just all over him on Sunday when they put up 10 runs on him. Gordon is due for his revenge.” Is he? I do not think so, especially when 100% of his pitch mix is valued below league average and he throws 51% fastballs.
I am eager to watch this game later tonight. The snakes should slither their way to four or more runs early on. Plus money too.
