The Mariners’ Homerun Trident had become one of the more infamous homerun celebrations in recent years.
The MLB’s AL West division might be one of the most top heavy divisions in baseball. It consists of the Mariners, the Astros, the Rangers, the Angels and the Athletics.
Two of these teams have been bad for as long as I’ve been watching baseball, and the Rangers/Astros/Mariners seem to kind of always be in the mix.
Houston and Seattle are currently tied for the top spot with Houston having a game in hand. These two teams have met 7 times this season, but haven’t played each other since late May.
The Mariners currently hold a 5-2 series lead on the year, but again these team’s haven’t met since then. The Astros were 25-33 at that point in the year, since then they’ve got 26-13 and closed the gap on the division lead.
Seattle’s 20-20 in that same time frame and they lost the most recent matchup last night 3-0. Their offense has struggled and a pitching rotation that once looked unstoppable, has had their fair share of bad starts.

With the Astros sending out lefty, Framber Valdez, I’m looking to target another lefty he’s had trouble with in this Mariners lineup. J.P. Crawford
Crawford’s been bad this month, batting just 0.170 with just 9 hits across 13 games. He’s batting just 0.209 this year and he’s having a down year across the board.
So why are we betting him today? Because the one spot he’s performed great in is against Framber and against lefties in general. He’s batting 0.360 in his career against Framber and he’s hitting 0.294 against lefties this year.
He’s got 0.471 SLG against lefties and 4 career extra-base hits against Framber; including a home run.
