Astros vs. Padres Analysis & Breakdown
Yordan Alvarez celebrates another home run.
With just 12 games remaining the MLB’s regular season, it looks like both the Astros and the Padres will be playing post-season baseball. The Padres lead the National Wild Card race & the Astros managed to shake off a terrible start to the season, and now sit 4.5 games in front of the Mariners for the AL West.
The Padres enter this game, fresh off a 3-game sweep of the San Francisco Giants, in San Francisco. Now the Padres are back home in San Diego, where they hold a 40-35 record.
The Astros have won 4 straight games and look to stay in the win column tonight with starter Spencer Arrighetti on the mound. The Padres will counter with their Ace, Yu Darvish.
Darvish has struggled since returning from injury, sporting a 5.87 ERA in two games this month, having allowed 3 home runs and given up 5 runs in just 11 innings of work. The Padres will have their work cut out for them with this big Astros lineup in town.
