After losing three of four at home to the Cleveland Guardians to open the new MLB season, the Seattle Mariners will look to start this week on a winning note as they take on the Los Angeles Angels tonight (9:40 pm ET/6:40 pm local time).
The Mariners shut out the Guardians on Opening Day, but the reigning AL Central champs struck back by taking the last three games of the series.
While it was a losing start for the M’s, the Angels make the trip to Seattle after taking two of three against the Athletics in Oakland. Following a 2-1 loss on Opening Day, the Halos outscored the A’s 19-1 on Saturday and Sunday to secure a series win.

Will the Halos See a Reversal in Fortunes in 2023?
A series win over arguably the worst team in the league isn’t necessarily anything to write home about, especially considering that the A’s were 29-51 at home last season.
But you can only beat who’s on your schedule, and it is nothing but positive that the Angels won 13-1 and 6-0 in the last two games of the series after a tepid performance at the plate on Opening Day.
Tonight, they will face a pitcher who allowed just three runs, a dozen hits, and one walk and struck out 14 in two home starts against the Halos last season.
This is a spot in which L.A. did not fare well at all last season, and improvement in that area is imperative if the Angels are to make a serious push at making their first playoff appearance since 2014.
Last season, the Angels were 24-52 SU (31.6%) as an underdog, including a 16-35 (31.4%) record as a road underdog. The former percentage was next-to-last in MLB–the Dodgers were 1-4 as an underdog in 2022–and the latter percentage was 27th in the league.
