Rafael Devers Trade Breakdown
The face of the Boston Red Sox is on the move. The former third baseman turned designated hitter is headed to the San Francisco Giants. In return, the Red Sox receive Jordan Hicks (SP), Kyle Harrison (SP), James Tibbs (RF), and Jose Bello (RHP) for the 28-year-old 2018 World Series champion and two-time Silver Slugger.

The Giants will now take on the 10-year, $313 million contract he signed in 2023, which runs through his age-36 season.
Devers will join a lineup that includes Matt Chapman, Willy Adames, Heliot Ramos, and Jung Hoo Lee. San Francisco was already a fun team to watch in 2025, but this addition brings a whole new dynamic and a much-needed power boost to their lineup.
It will be interesting to see how Devers adjusts to yet another team with third base already spoken for. Matt Chapman is currently on the 10-day IL, but he remains the everyday third baseman in San Francisco.
Where the World Series Odds Stand Now
The Giants now sit 11th in World Series odds at 25/1 and sixth in NL odds at 12/1. Meanwhile, the Red Sox rank 16th at 45/1 and ninth in AL odds at 22/1.
If you believe moving on from Devers was the right call for the Red Sox clubhouse, now is the time to fire on their futures. This trade follows three straight series wins, including back-to-back victories over the New York Yankees within the span of a week.
The same goes for the Giants. Now is the time to invest. Yes, they are in one of, if not the toughest division in baseball, but they currently sit just one game behind the Dodgers for first place. They are playing excellent baseball and are one of the most entertaining teams in the league this season.
