Wyndham Championship Predictions and Picks
Wyndham Championship Winner Pick: Matt Fitzpatrick
A little over a month ago, Fitzpatrick was mired in what had largely been a miserable season, and his Ryder Cup hopes were in a perilous position.
But sunny days are here again for Fitzpatrick, whose fortunes seem to have turned with a third-round 63 at the Travelers Championship. He parlayed that into a top-20 finish and followed it up with a tie for eighth in the Rocket Classic and consecutive ties for fourth across the pond.
Can he keep the good times rolling this week? He has played in the Wyndham Championship only once, so he isn’t as familiar with the course as some other hopefuls. But his return to form makes him a very worthy pick, and it feels like only a matter of time before he is a winner on the PGA Tour again.
Other Wyndham Championship Picks
Christiaan Bezuidenhout to finish in the top 20 (+275 at BetOnline)
After playing in all three playoff events last year, Bezuidenhout enters the Wyndham Championship 74th in the FedEx Cup standings. So, he needs to have a good week to book a ticket to Memphis.
Can he give himself a chance? He has as many missed cuts (six) as he does top-20 finishes this season, but two of those finishes have come in his last three tournaments. His best finish in four previous Wyndham Championship appearances is a tie for 22nd (in 2024), but urgency will spur him on to his best result in this tournament.
Bud Cauley to finish in the top 20 (+325 at BetOnline)
Cauley had four top-six finishes in his first ten tournaments this season, but since a third-place finish in the Charles Schwab Challenge, his best result in six tournaments is a tie for 25th in the Travelers Championship.
At 51st in the FedEx Cup standings, he is set to be a part of the FedEx St. Jude Championship field. But a strong week this week could set him up well to make the cut of 50 for the BMW Championship, and being able to play in the first two FedEx Cup playoff events would give him a shot at qualifying for the TOUR Championship, which he has never played in.
Cauley missed the cut in this tournament last year, but he has three career top-20s in the Wyndham Championship, including a third-place finish in 2012. He has a lot of familiarity with the course, which could play in his favor this week.
Lucas Glover to finish in the top 20 (+185 at BetOnline)
Two years ago, Glover won the Wyndham Championship to jump from 112th to 49th in the FedEx Cup standings. Last year, no such heroics occurred, as he missed the cut and missed the playoffs after managing only three top-20 finishes all season prior to the cutoff.
This year, he has rebounded and sits 26th in the standings, thanks in part to top-three finishes in two of the biggest events on the calendar (the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am and the Players Championship).
This means he doesn’t have the same urgency that others in the field do, but that doesn’t mean he will be taking it easy this week. He’s in decent form right now, having finished tied for ninth (Travelers Championship), tied for fifth (John Deere Classic), and tied for 23rd (Open Championship) in his last three tournaments, and he will want to keep that going heading to the opener of the FedEx Cup playoffs.
Ben Griffin to finish in the top 20 (+135 at BetOnline)
Not long ago, Griffin was approaching lock status for the U.S. Ryder Cup team. But after missing the cut in his last two tournaments, he could use a strong week in Greensboro, especially with Ryder Cup captain Keegan Bradley also in the Wyndham Championship field.
It’s not as if he has suddenly hit an awful patch. He missed out on the weekend at the John Deere Classic by two shots and at the Open Championship by one shot, so he wasn’t far off at either tournament. But after six consecutive top-15 finishes, both results would have been a disappointment.
Fortunately, this week’s event couldn’t come at a better time. Griffin, a North Carolina native, has played in the Wyndham Championship three previous times and finished fourth in 2022 and tied for seventh last year.
Given the leap that he has made this year, we should expect to see him contend for the win this week. Lock this one in and toss a couple of coins on a top-10 (+300), a top five (+550), and the win.
Robert MacIntyre to finish in the top 20 (+150 at BetOnline)
Rory McIlroy is the only player currently locked into a place in Europe’s Ryder Cup team, but MacIntyre, who ranks second in their team rankings, is certain to be at Bethpage, as are the likes of Tommy Fleetwood and Sepp Straka.
On the PGA Tour this year, MacIntyre has nine top-20 finishes, including five top-10 finishes. Most recently, he tied for seventh at the Open Championship.
MacIntyre’s two previous appearances in this tournament have seen him finished tied for 65th and miss the cut, but I like his game and the season he has put together, and I think he should have a good week, especially if he is motivated by the potential for an extra seven-figure payday if he can get the win that would land him a spot in the Comcast Business Tour Top 10.
Denny McCarthy to finish in the top 20 (+250 at BetOnline)
McCarthy has nine top-20 finishes in 19 tournaments this season, but at 39th in the FedEx Cup standings, he has some work to do to qualify for the TOUR Championship.
A good week in Greensboro would help his cause and given his percentages for finishing in the top 20 this season, these odds offer relatively little risk and a potentially substantial reward.
Adam Svensson to finish in the top 20 (+550 at BetOnline)
At 162nd in the FedEx Cup standings, Svensson could miss out on the top 70 even if he were to somehow win the Wyndham Championship.
But what is less of a long shot is the top 100, which would guarantee him a PGA Tour card for 2026. And after finishing tied for 14th in the 3M Open last week (his first top-20 finish of the season), he is still in with a fighting chance with the Wyndham Championship and several fall events to come.
Svensson finished tied for seventh in this tournament in both 2023 and 2024, which should give him a boost of belief that he can have a second straight solid result. He’s currently 225 points behind 100th (Isaiah Salinda), and if he can finish in the top 10 for a third straight year, he will make a nice dent in that deficit.
