Through the first four months of the 2025 PGA Tour season, several of the biggest events on the calendar have been decided either down the stretch or in a playoff. With a tie atop the Truist Championship leaderboard ahead of the final round, yet another suspense-filled Sunday appears to be ahead.
Five signature events, a flagship event, and a major are in the books, and the sixth signature event of the season will come to a close today at Philadelphia Cricket Club. Three of those seven top-tier tournaments were decided in a playoff (the Players Championship, Masters, and RBC Heritage), and two others (the Genesis Invitational and Arnold Palmer Invitational) were decided by a single stroke.
Golf fans and bettors alike have been in for a real treat thus far and should be once again today.
Entering the final round, Sepp Straka and Shane Lowry sit at 14-under, three shots ahead of Justin Thomas and Keith Mitchell and four shots ahead of Hideki Matsuyama.
2025 Truist Championship 54-Hole Leaderboard
- Sepp Straka -14
- Shane Lowry -14
- Justin Thomas -11
- Keith Mitchell -11
- Hideki Matsuyama -10
- Sungjae Im -8
- Nick Taylor -8
- Sam Burns -8
- Tony Finau -8
- Rory McIlroy -8
Mitchell was the 36-hole leader, as his 61 on Thursday helped power him to an advantage ahead of the weekend. But after making the turn at 13-under, he dropped two shots on a back nine that featured no birdies.
On the flip side, Matsuyama rocketed himself into contention by draining birdies on his last three holes and finishing with a 7-under 63, the lowest round of the day.
With one more trek around the Wissahickon Course to come, who is favored to win the Truist Championship? At BetOnline, Lowry and Straka are out ahead of Thomas, Mitchell, and Matsuyama.

So, how will the final round play out? Let’s dive into predictions and picks.
2025 Truist Championship Final Round Predictions and Picks
Straka, who won The American Express in January, has put in some very good results in bigger events this season. He did miss the cut at The Genesis Invitational and the Masters, but he finished in the top 15 at The Sentry, Players Championship, and RBC Heritage, tied for seventh at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am, and tied for fifth at the Arnold Palmer Invitational.
Lowry is the more experienced hand, but Straka’s performances this week and in other notable events stir up a lot of confidence in his chances to claim what would be the biggest win—and biggest payday—of his career.
Beyond taking Straka to win out head-to-head against Lowry (+100 at BetOnline) and win the tournament, the most appealing option on Sunday’s Truist Championship card is a top-five finish for McIlroy (+170 at Bovada).
A six-shot deficit may be too much for him to make up today, but that does not mean that he won’t try to. At Bovada, he is -110 to shoot 67 or better and -120 to have six or more birdies and eagles, and both of those should be on your card.
In each of the first two rounds, McIlroy had six birdies, and he had four in his first ten holes yesterday before things dried up. He’s certain to be motivated today after starting 3-under through six but finishing only 1-under for the day thanks to a double bogey-bogey stretch on #7 and #8 and failing to record a birdie on his last eight holes. Look for a strong finish from the Masters champ ahead of the PGA Championship at Quail Hollow, a course he is very, very fond of.
