Open Championship Third Round Predictions and Picks

English golfer Harry Hall at the 2025 Open Championship

Harry Hall under 70.5 (+110 at Bovada)

Hall’s Open Championship debut got off to an inauspicious start, as he triple bogeyed his second hole on Thursday and followed it with a bogey on the third. However, he is -6 in 33 holes since and enters the weekend tied for 17th.

After draining seven birdies on the way to a 4-under 67 on Friday, is he one to watch on the leaderboard today? His play since his poor start at Royal Portrush points to a positive forecast, as does his overall body of work. Prior to a 4-over 74 in the third round of the Scottish Open last weekend, Hall had shot par or better in the third round in seven consecutive tournaments. For the season, he has shot par or better in the third round 13 times in 17 tournaments in which he has made halfway cut, including the PGA Championship.

This calls for him to do a shade better than par, but at these odds, it’s worth the risk.

Nicolai Hojgaard under 70.5 (+110 at Bovada)

With consecutive 69s, Hojgaard is a nice position to finish in the top 10 in a major for the first time, though he is a stroke behind his twin brother Rasmus, who is also seeking his first major top 10.

Can he improve his position on the leaderboard today or at least hold steady inside the top 10? He is 13th on the PGA Tour in third round scoring average (69.14), and if he can continue to make the most of the par-5s (he birdied all three of them in each of the first two rounds), that will go a long way towards another positive round.

2-Ball: Lucas Glover (-120 at Everygame) vs. Jason Kokrak

Glover and Kokrak are two of eight golfers sitting at -1 as the Open Championship moves into the weekend. After shooting a 2-under 69 on Thursday, Glover took a step back with a 1-over 72 yesterday. Look for him to bounce back today, however. Only once this season has he shot over par in the third round (a 1-over 72 at the RBC Heritage in April), and he is fifth on the PGA Tour in third round scoring average (68.85).

Kokrak has done well to reach the weekend in his first major appearance since the 2023 Masters, but he carded five bogeys in each of the first two rounds. He was able to overcome that with 11 total birdies (to compare, Glover has an eagle, four birdies, and five bogeys), but the bubble might burst for him today.
