Should You Fade Niemann?
LIV Golf Dallas is one of two events for the tour prior to the Open Championship, which will take place in three weeks at Royal Portrush in Northern Ireland.
This event and the next event (taking place in Spain in two weeks), will be a valuable opportunity for the likes of potential Open contenders like DeChambeau, Rahm, Niemann, and Tyrrell Hatton to get in some competitive golf before the last major of the year.
While Rahm and Hatton both finished in the top ten at the U.S. Open, DeChambeau and Niemann did not fare well at Oakmont. Both finished +10 and missed the cut, with Niemann going 75-75 and DeChambeau carding scores of 73 and 77.
While DeChambeau is the highest-ranked LIV Golf representative, coming in at 15th in the latest world rankings, the name to watch closest in this week’s event is Niemann.
The 26-year-old from Chile has taken the individual title at four of the first eight LIV events this season, including the most recent event three weeks ago.
However, he has yet to win back-to-back events, and his record this season features either wins or finishes outside of the top ten.
Niemann is one of the favorites to win this week, as he should be. But with his feast-or-famine results this season, it might be wise to avoid him this week but target him for LIV Golf Andalucia in two weeks’ time.

LIV Golf Dallas Predictions and Picks
Carlos Ortiz to finish in the top ten (+100 at Everygame)
Prior to the U.S. Open, Ortiz had missed the cut in seven of his nine career major appearances, and his best finish was a tie for 52nd at the 2019 U.S. Open.
But where a lot of big names failed to fire at Oakmont, Ortiz had a week to remember, even with a final-round 73. He finished tied for fourth at +3, four shots behind J.J. Spaun, and were it not for a double bogey on 15 on Sunday, he could have fared even better.
Can he ride the wave of that excellent effort to a high finish at LIV Golf Dallas? In the two events prior to the U.S. Open, he tied for seventh at LIV Golf Korea and tied for tenth at LIV Golf Virginia. At these odds, he’s an easy take.
Tyrrell Hatton H2H (+103 at BetOnline) vs. Joaquin Niemann
For the other pick for this week, this stands out as a top option.
Niemann’s up and down results are the main reason, but Hatton is coming off of a strong showing at the U.S. Open, where he, like Ortiz, finished tied for fourth and could have finished even higher.
Hatton has finished in the top ten in a LIV Golf event only twice this season, but he finished tied for fifth, tied for 13th, and tied for 15th in his last three events. And in last year’s event at Maridoe, Hatton shot a 4-under 68 to tie for fifth, while Neimann shot a 2-over 74 to tie for 45th.
