The biggest day of the motorsports calendar is here, and it will kick off with the eighth race of the 2025 Formula 1 season, the Monaco Grand Prix.

There are many prestigious races on the F1 schedule, but the Monaco GP is arguably the most prestigious, because of its history, its location in one of the most picturesque locations in the world, and because it is part of a tripleheader that also features the Indianapolis 500 and Coca-Cola 600.

From Hill to Stewart to Senna to Schumacher to Hamilton, many of Formula 1’s greatest drivers have won the Monaco Grand Prix multiple times. Who will win it this year?

Can Norris Close on Table-Topping Teammate Piastri?

Through the first seven races of the season, four drivers have separated themselves from the pack in the race for this year’s World Drivers’ Championship: Oscar Piastri, Lando Norris, Max Verstappen, and George Russell.

Since opening the season with a ninth-place finish at home in the Australian Grand Prix, Piastri has racked up four wins and six consecutive podium finishes. Entering the Monaco Grand Prix, Piastri has a 13-point lead over McLaren teammate Norris at the top of the Formula 1 World Drivers’ Championship standings.

Four-time defending champion Max Verstappen, who won last weekend’s Emilia Romagna Grand Prix, is 22 points back of Piastri, while Russell is 47 points back after a season-worst seventh-place finish at Imola.

The Monaco Grand Prix presents an opportunity for Norris to tighten the race at the top. For the first time since the season opener, he will lead the line at the start after edging out 2024 race winner Charles Leclerc for pole.

Given how notoriously difficult overtakes are at Monaco, will pole prove to be a good omen for Norris? The latest Formula 1 race odds at BetOnline see him with the advantage over Leclerc and Piastri.

Odds to Win the 2025 Formula 1 Monaco Grand Prix

  • Max Verstappen +1500
  • Lewis Hamilton +5000
  • George Russell +8000
  • Andrea Kimi Antonelli +12500
  • Fernando Alonso +20000

Monaco Grand Prix Predictions and Picks

In four of the last six editions of the Monaco Grand Prix, the polesitter has taken the checkered flag. That includes last year, when Leclerc converted a Monaco pole at the third time of asking and became the first Monegasque driver to win this race since Louis Chiron in 1931.

That is good news for Norris, at least in this instance. To date, he has converted a pole into a win on only four of ten occasions, memorably being plagued by poor starts multiple times.

But he converted his pole at last season’s finale in Abu Dhabi into a win and did the same to start this season in Melbourne, and he has picked a fine time to find his way to the top of the qualifying charts for the 11th time in his Formula 1 career. There are still legitimate questions about Norris’s ability to make the most of his machine, but there are not many instances in which you will have the polesitter and race favorite with these odds. Take Norris for the win, which he needs.

Elsewhere, you can get relatively great value on both Ferrari cars to finish in the top six at BetOnline (-160). Lewis Hamilton had his best qualifying effort of the season, coming in fourth behind Norris, Leclerc, and Piastri. However, he will start seventh after receiving a three-place grid penalty for unintentionally impeding Verstappen during qualifying thanks to miscommunication from his team. But even with overtaking opportunities few and far between, he should find his way into the top six with Leclerc when all is said and done.
