Formula 1 Dutch Grand Prix Predictions & Picks: Tight Title Tussle Resumes at Zandvoort

Formula 1 World Drivers' Championship leader and Dutch Grand Prix polesitter Oscar Piastri - Formula 1 2025 Dutch Grand Prix Predictions & Picks

The Formula 1 summer break is now over, and it’s back to business for Oscar Piastri, Lando Norris, and the rest of the grid this weekend. First up out of the break is Sunday’s Dutch Grand Prix, the 15th race of the 2025 Formula 1 season.

Ahead of tomorrow’s race at Circuit Zandvoort, the race for this season’s World Drivers’ Championship tittle appears to be a two-horse race between McLaren teammates Oscar Piastri and Lando Norris.

They have been a dominant duo to this point, combining for 11 wins and finishing first and second in seven races. Piastri, who has six wins this season, holds a nine-point edge over Norris, who claimed his fifth win at the Hungarian Grand Prix, the last race before things went on pause for most of August.

Formula 1 World Drivers’ Championship Standings (Through 14 of 24 Races)

  • 1. Oscar Piastri (McLaren) – 284
  • 2. Lando Norris (McLaren) – 275
  • 3. Max Verstappen (Red Bull) – 187
  • 4. George Russell (Mercedes) – 172
  • 5. Charles Leclerc (Ferrari) – 151
  • 6. Lewis Hamilton (Ferrari) – 109
  • 7. Kimi Antonelli (Mercedes) – 64
  • 8. Alexander Albon (Williams) – 54
  • 9. Nico Hulkenberg (Sauber) – 37
  • 10. Esteban Ocon (Haas) – 27

Is another McLaren 1-2 in the cards for the Dutch Grand Prix? Piastri and Norris topped the qualifying charts and will occupy the front two places on Sunday’s starting grid, ahead of Max Verstappen and Isack Hadjar, who will start fourth following the best qualifying result of his young Formula 1 career.

Last year, Norris won this race in dominant fashion, sparking a title challenge that ultimately fizzled out during F1’s stretch in the Americas. A win this time around would see him pull within no less than a couple of points of Piastri ahead of next weekend’s Italian Grand Prix at Monza.

Formula 1 Dutch Grand Prix Predictions and Picks

Gabriel Bortoleto to finish in the top 10 (+175 at BetOnline)

Bortoleto did not get his first Formula 1 points until an eighth-place finish in the Austrian Grand Prix, but he seems to have turned a corner. Two more points finishes followed at the Belgian Grand Prix, where he came in ninth, and the Hungarian Grand Prix, where he finished sixth.

He did not make it to Q3 at Zandvoort and will start 13th, but with his recent performances, this is really good value, especially when he doesn’t have too many sports to make up to finish in the top 10.

Isack Hadjar to finish in the top 10 (+100 at Bovada)

After recording five points finishes in his first 10 races this season, reality hit for Hadjar, who finished in the points only once in the final four races before the summer break.

But the break appears to have done the 20-year-old Frenchman a world of good, given how well he ran in qualifying. Prior to Dutch Grand Prix qualifying, Hadjar’s best result in Formula 1 qualifying was fifth at Monaco.

Monaco is also where Hadjar picked up his best race result, a sixth-place finish, and it is one of four times this season that he started in the top 10 and ended in the top 10 (Japanese Grand Prix, Emilia Romagna Grand Prix, Monaco Grand Prix, and Spanish Grand Prix). That is a decent conversion rate for a rookie driver at one of the weaker teams in Formula 1, and it offers some encouragement that Hadjar can make good on this wager.

Kimi Antonelli to finish in the top 10 (-120 at Lucky Rebel)

After recording five points finishes in his first six races, Antonelli has had just one points finish in eight races. The outlook isn’t particularly promising for him for the Dutch Grand Prix, either. He didn’t make it out of Q2 and will start 11th, outside of the front five rows for the third straight race.

But after starting 15th in Hungary, Antonelli came in 10th in the race and picked up his first point since making the Canadian Grand Prix podium. So, that should inspire some confidence that he can make a move at Zandvoort and put together a much-needed consecutive top 10, especially with where he is starting.
