Louisville vs. Oregon State Prediction and Picks
In sports, the postseason can often represent a clean slate.
Louisville has embraced that on the way to reaching the CWS for the first time since 2019. In their final seven pre-NCAA tournament games, the Cardinals went 1-6 and allowed 51 runs in the last five games of that stretch.
But in sweeping through the Nashville Regional and seeing off Miami in an all-ACC Super Regional matchup, Louisville has allowed only 12 runs in six games, nine of which came in Miami’s 9-6 Game 2 win.
The timing couldn’t be better either, given that runs might be at a premium in Omaha, both because of the setting and the arms they may face.
Tonight, Louisville will line up against freshman All-American hurler Dax Whitney (6-3, 3.66 ERA, 111 Ks in 71.1 IP). In his last five starts, Whitney is 3-0 with a 2.02 ERA and a 1.08 WHIP, and has 46 strikeouts in 26.2 innings.
But the forecast favors some offense in this matchup. Oregon State has some heavy hitters in Aiva Arquette (.354, 18 HR, 65 RBI), Gavin Turley (.346, 19 HR, 66 RBI), and Wilson Weber (.333, 12 HR, 57 RBI), but Louisville counters with their own heavy hitters, led by Eddie King Jr. (.362, 17 HR, 60 RBI).
Also, the Cardinals do not strike out much, get runners on base, steal bases (155 for 175 in 2025), and have several solid run producers. In a pitcher-friendly park, those attributes can serve a team well.
Back both teams to put some runs on the board and sprinkle a little extra on Louisville to cover the run line and win outright.
