Tiger-Cats vs. Elks Prediction and Picks
Entering the season, expectations were low for the Ti-Cats, and that would not have changed after their season started with losses to the Stampeders and Roughriders. Now, they have the fourth best title odds, as per the latest Grey Cup winner odds at Bovada.
But are they a true contender or a pretender? At BC last Sunday, they certainly showed championship character. They were down 33-23 with four minutes left and scored two late touchdowns, including the game winner with 16 seconds left, for a stunning 37-33 win over the Lions.
This week’s trip to Edmonton won’t move the needle too much in either direction, but part of being a contender is navigating these kinds of matchups.
Entering the Elks’ road matchup with the Roughriders last week, they had allowed 31+ points in every game this season, and their four losses were all by double digits. But they put in a surprisingly positive performance in a 21-18 loss in Regina, holding one of the CFL’s best offenses to only 334 total yards and not throwing in the towel even after being held to four points in the first three quarters.
Can they put in another solid showing this week? It’s difficult to see them being able to slow down Trevor Harris and Bo Levi Mitchell in consecutive weeks. Mitchell, the CFL’s leader in passing yards (2201) and touchdown passes (15), lit up the Lions for 389 yards and three touchdowns while completing 34 of 41 passes.
With Mitchell leading the way again, look for the Ti-Cats to top the Elks on the road. The spread is a little tricky but take it and the over on Hamilton’s team total.
