Redblacks vs. Blue Bombers Prediction and Picks

Redblacks Seek Consecutive Road Wins
It may be some time before the Redblacks top the performance that they had at BMO Field last week, for many reasons. The Argonauts entered the game with a 21-6 all-time record against the Redblacks, and it looked like a 22nd win in 28 tries was in the cards after Toronto took a 22-1 lead in the first quarter.
But Ottawa got up from the mat in spectacular fashion, rallying for a 46-42 win to pick up a rare win in Toronto.
As a result of their wild comeback, the Redblacks enter their matchup vs. the Blue Bombers third in the East Division, a game ahead of the Argos at the halfway point of the season.
Tonight, they will look to win in Winnipeg for the first time since 2018. To be fair, they have played there only three times since a 44-21 win that season. Still, it would be a notable achievement nonetheless, more so because of how good the Blue Bombers have been other than a 41-20 loss to the Stampeders in Week 7, a loss that came with Zach Collaros sidelined for most of the game.
Will Things Click for Collaros at Home?
Last Saturday, Winnipeg squandered an early 17-0 lead and lost at Calgary on a last-second field goal by Rene Paredes. Still, some positives can be taken from the 28-27 loss. One, they played better than they did in their two 21-point losses to the Stampeders. Two, Collaros made it through the full game. He had missed the previous game and was unable to finish his last two starts.
Collaros wasn’t spectacular against Calgary, but he was solid (21 of 26, 214 yards, TD) and did not throw an interception after throwing two in each of his previous three starts.
With the rust shaken off, Collaros should be even better this week. Overall, the Blue Bombers should be a better version of themselves than we have seen recently. Part of that can be attributed to Collaros’s status and the drop-off between him and backup Chris Streveler. Also, part can perhaps be attributed to playing only the Argos and Stampeders in their last five games.
The Redblacks might not come crashing down in Winnipeg, but it will be tough to replicate last week’s performance. Entering Week 10, they were averaging just 326.5 yards per game offensively. Their 448 yards at Toronto were a season high and just the third time they crossed the 350-yard mark this season.
That indicates that a step back is likely this week. Take the home team to cover and take Winnipeg’s team total as well. After being unable to convert a strong start into a win at Calgary, look for them to put together a more complete performance back at Princess Auto Stadium tonight.
