Will the Alouettes Have the Answer to Stop the Stampeders?
After winning only five games all of last season, Calgary (5-1) needed just six games to get to that number this season.
After beating the Winnipeg Blue Bombers by 21 in Calgary earlier this month, the Stampeders repeated that feat in Manitoba last Friday with a 41-20 victory at Princess Auto Stadium.
Calgary trailed 13-10 in the second quarter then reeled off 31 consecutive points against Winnipeg, who lost star QB Zach Collaros and had four interceptions combined between Collaros and backup Chris Streveler.
All five of the Stampeders’ wins this season have come by double-digits, and in their last three games, they have outscored the Blue Bombers and Saskatchewan Roughriders 102-46.
This week, the Alouettes will take a crack at slowing down the Calgary stampede.
Last week, Montreal (4-2) avoided a third straight loss by scoring the final 19 points in a 26-25 win over the Toronto Argonauts.
The Argos led 25-7 in the third quarter, but the Alouettes closed the game with three consecutive touchdowns to eke out the win.
It was a much-needed victory for Montreal, but the Argos are 1-5 this season. And in the Alouettes’ lone game thus far this season against a team currently with a winning record, they went on the road to face the Hamilton Tiger-Cats and lost 35-17.

Alouettes vs. Stampeders Prediction and Picks
After winning at Winnipeg for the first time since 2017, the Stampeders are riding high.
Offensively, things are humming along merrily. Adams, formerly of the BC Lions, has thrown six picks, but his numbers are otherwise solid across the board. Running back Dedrick Mills has run for 466 yards and five touchdowns thus far, and rookie receiver Damien Alford, the No. 1-pick in this year’s draft, has eight catches for 235 yards and four touchdowns in his last two games.
Defensively, the Stampeders have bent, but they have not broken, thanks in part to some eager hands.
In short, the Alouettes have their hands full tonight, and based on what Calgary has shown in the last three weeks and what Montreal has not been showing, it’s hard to see the visitors keeping up in this matchup.
As mentioned above, all five of the Stampeders’ wins thus far this season have come by double-digits, and they should add a sixth tonight, with Montreal native Alford playing a prominent role for a third straight game.
