Lions vs. Tiger-Cats Prediction and Picks

When these two teams met in Vancouver in Week 8, BC held a 33-23 lead with 3:55 left after a touchdown run by Jeremiah Masoli.

But the Ti-Cats were not to be written off, as they scored a touchdown just a minute later to pull within a field goal. Then, after getting the needed stop on defense, Mitchell carved up the BC defense yet again and hooked up with Kiondre Smith with 16 seconds left to give Hamilton a 37-33 win.

The Ti-Cats were at it again last week at Edmonton, this time with Mitchell and Tim White connecting for a game-winning score with two minutes left in a 28-24 win over the Elks.

They have certainly done things the hard way, but what is most important is that they are getting it done. And with a win tonight vs. the Lions, the Tiger-Cats will match their win total from last season with half of the season still remaining.

Next week’s road game against the high-flying Saskatchewan Roughriders will be a real litmus test for whether Hamilton is a genuine Grey Cup contender, but their offense is playing at a high level right now, and that can take them a long way if it continues.

Offensive Production for the Hamilton Tiger-Cats in the Last Six Games

  • Edmonton (away): 412 yards, 6.8 yards per play
  • BC (away): 486 yards, 8.0 yards per play
  • Ottawa (away): 412 yards, 7.2 yards per play
  • Ottawa (home): 352 yards, 5.9 yards per play
  • Toronto (away): 422 yards, 8.8 yards per play
  • Montreal (home): 311 yards, 5.9 yards per play

The Lions sit atop the CFL in passing yards allowed per game, but in their last two games, they were carved up by Mitchell (34 for 41, 389 yards, 3 TD, INT) and Roughriders QB Trevor Harris (23 for 30, 395 yards, 3 TD, INT).

That does not sound promising for their outlook for tonight with how Mitchell has performed and the connection he has right now with Smith (24 catches, 357 yards, 3 TD in his last three games) and White (21 catches, 253 yards, 2 TD in his last three games).

Mitchell has sought out Smith (32 targets in his last three games) and White (23 targets in his last three games) with regularity, and that should continue tonight in what should be a seventh consecutive win for the Ti-Cats. It might be another tight one, but they will pull it out and cover courtesy of another productive performance from their aerial attack.

Lions vs. Tiger-Cats Prediction: Tiger-Cats to win
