Virginia Online Sportsbooks Post Double-Digit June Growth

Virginia Online Sportsbooks Post Double-Digit June Growth

Virginia’s sports betting market achieved notable success in June 2025. Online sportsbooks and retail venues reported significant double-digit increases across both handle and revenue.

According to the Virginia Lottery, wagering activity surged to $477.8 million in June 2025, marking a 15 percent rise from June 2024.

Meanwhile, adjusted gross revenue jumped by 41 percent, reaching $57.1 million, a figure that includes revenue from online sportsbooks and retail outlets. Consequently, the state generated $8.7 million in tax receipts, up from $6.2 million in June 2024.

Moreover, Virginia achieved a 12.7 percent win rate in June. Virginia online sportsbooks delivered a 12.9 percent combined hold, while retail sportsbooks reported a modest loss of approximately $303,215 above $5.1 million in bets accepted.

FanDuel led operator performance, posting a 15.2 percent win rate – the highest since September 2022 – and capturing $26.5 million in gross revenue. DraftKings followed closely, securing nearly $17 million in revenue on $141.5 million wagered.

BetMGM also delivered a good performance in June, boasting its best full-month hold of 14 percent, which produced $6.7 million in revenue from $48 million in wagers.

Additionally, BetMGM’s first-half gross revenue total rose 35.9 percent compared to the same period last year.

Upcoming Seasons Could Extend Virginia Online Sportsbooks Momentum

The ongoing MLB and WNBA seasons present more opportunities for Virginia bettors. Fans are actively seeking MLB picks and WNBA picks to maximize their wagers. These leagues deliver consistent action that keeps online sportsbooks busy through the summer months.

However, the biggest surge may come with the NFL season kickoff in September. Bettors will soon explore early NFL picks and compare NFL odds to find value. The NFL remains the most popular betting market nationwide, often generating record monthly handles.

With major sports overlapping in the coming months, Virginia’s wagering activity is poised to keep climbing. Strong operator performances and seasonal betting spikes suggest sustained growth for the state’s online sportsbooks well into the fall.

As summer unfolds, Virginia’s betting market continues to exceed expectations while preparing for its busiest stretch of the year.
